Featuring popular events such as cooking and dance demonstrations, shopping marketplace, the Fitness Challenge, a business workshop, fashion and hair shows -- plus lots of new activities and 385 exhibits offering information on an array of topics from health issues to financial planning. This year’s highlights include presentations by Lisa Marie Platske, president and CEO of Upside Thinking, who will be the keynote speaker for the Friday afternoon business workshop sponsored by Via Christi Women’s Connection, and LeAnn Thieman, co-author of 12 Chicken Soup for the Soul books, who will be the Saturday afternoon keynote speaker sponsored by Via Christi Women’s Connection and Dress For Success Wichita. New this year on the cooking stage is Kimberley Bevins, the author of three cookbooks, including “The Joy of Food.” Her daily cooking shows will sponsored by Southwest Dairy Farmers. Another new feature is the Red Carpet Gala where those who stop for a photo opportunity will be entered in a drawing to win a trip to California and tickets to a taping of “American Idol.” Women’s Fair 2012 kicks off Friday afternoon with a free business workshop and then Girls Night Out that evening. Saturday and Sunday are filled with demonstrations, style shows, fun games and more. All three days of the show, exhibitors offer an array of apparel, makeup, food, gifts and gadgets for sale. Fair hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7.75 for adults, $6.75 for seniors and $4.75 for children 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. The Green Party Bus will again provide doorside transportation from Lawrence-Dumont Stadium parking lot.
